02.12.2014
Material database
DB 24.78
- Two generic soils have been added to the “Generic Materials”. Nine soils for purely thermal calculations have been added to “Materials for thermal calculations”. Twelve soils derived from a soil material database have been added to the “North America Database”.
- Absorption and emission coefficients for “Gravel roof, generic model”, “Green roof, generic model” and “Green roof, Optigreen system” have been added to the coefficients’ drop-down list.
Climate Reader
- #978: Some of the hourly indoor climate models in WUFI Pro and WUFI 2D are to be derived from the hourly outdoor climate selected by the user. However, when a multi-year outdoor climate was used, the climate reader procedure used by both WUFI Pro and WUFI 2D derived the indoor climate only from the first year of the outdoor climate file and used these first-year indoor data for the remaining years as well. This has been fixed.
3.4.2.181
- Following changes in US standard ASHRAE 160 on which WUFI’s “ASHRAE 160” indoor climate model is based, the following changes have been made in the model in order to remain compatible with the standard in its current version:
The following limiting rule has been added to section 4.3 of the standard: “Indoor design humidity shall not exceed 70% RH.”
Table 4.3.2 has been modified in the following way:Table 4.3.2 Residential Design Moisture Generation Rates Number of Bedrooms Number of Occupants Moisture Generation Rate 1 bedroom 2 87 L/day0.90.8 x 10-4 kg/s0.70.64 lb/h2 bedrooms 3 129 L/day1.41.0 x 10-4 kg/s1.10.83 lb/h3 bedrooms 4 1410 L/day1.61.2 x 10-4 kg/s1.30.92 lb/h4 bedrooms 5 1511 L/day1.71.3 x 10-4 kg/s1.41.0 lb/hAdditional bedrooms +1 per bedroom +1 L/day +0.1 x 10-4 kg/s +0.1 lb/h
- #941: Because of a (recently introduced) mix-up in the parameters being passed on, inconsistent calculation schemes were used when the simplified radiation cooling or the explicit radiation balance were selected. In both cases, the “simplified radiation cooling” scheme was used for deriving the radiation data from the weather data, and the numerics always used the full “explicit radiation balance” scheme. This bug has been fixed. (The standard calculation mode where the simplified radiation cooling and the explicit radiation balance are switched off was not affected.)
- #873:Previously, the default start date always was October 1 1991. October 1 has been retained because simulations of a newly built house will more often start in autumn than in winter (e.g. on January 1). However, the default year is now the current year if the current month is October or later. Otherwise, it is the previous year.
- #863: Compatibility with the write privileges in Windows 7 (e.g. for the *.ini files) has been improved.
- #861:The automatic creation of a project report needs the XML style sheets wufi2d.xslt and wufimaterial.xslt which must reside in the project path. They are automatically copied there by WUFI 2D, but the user can delete them inadvertently. In this case, WUFI 2D now automatically copies them into that folder once more.
- #833:The fill pattern for the display of the materials in the assembly diagram can now be edited by the user (Options | Settings | Design).
Several improvements of the user interface have been implemented. - WUFI-Graph: The profiles are now saved in the project file.
- #870:WUFI-Graph: WUFI-Graph: The profiles are now saved in the project file.
- #859: WUFI-Graph: A link has been added to the “About” dialog which provides quick access to the log file.
- #868:WUFI-Graph: WUFI-Graph: A menu item in the right-click pop-up menu now allows to copy the respective diagram to the clipboard.

- 5 Green roofs (under “Roofs”)
- 38 dena constructions (under “dena Constructions (German Energy Agency)”)
Weather Data
- Weather files for Bordeaux, Brest, Nancy, Marseille and Trappes have been added.
- The weather file for Kassel has been removed because it appeared doubtful whether the data were up to today’s standard. (The test reference years for Kassel are still available.)
- The weather file for Grenoble contained counterradiation data which were too low. This has been corrected. The corrected file was given a new database ID to make sure that existing projects using the old file do not automatically recognize the new file which thus must be re-selected.
When the weather files for Montreal and Edmonton were created, some bits had inadvertently set to 1 in the binary floating point numbers, resulting in – usually small – modifications of the data. This has been corrected. The corrected files were given new database IDs to make sure that existing projects using one of the old files do not automatically recognize the new file which thus must be re-selected. - The “Moisture Reference Year” for Holzkirchen, which had been included with WUFI as a binary *.WBC-file is now in the open *.WAC format. Users thus can export, analyze and edit the data.
The U.S. cities for which weather data are included with WUFI are now listed with their state codes included, for better orientation and for disambiguation between cities with the same name (e.g. Wilmington, DE and Wilmington, NC).
